GU2 is run under the guidance of the Students' Union President, this year - Alex Collins
A committee of students elected on a yearly basis runs the station. If you would like to contact a particular commitee member, just click on their name to drop them an email.

The 2007-2008 commitee are as follows: -

Station ManagerStation Manager - Barny Leavers

The Station Manager is the chairperson responsible for day-to-day running of the station and its operations. They are also tasked with ensuring the stations constitutional guidelines are upheld and are there to provide primary external representation of the station. This year Barny Leavers holds the post, an experienced presenter and member of GU2 he has been working hard to organise an overhaul of GU2 this year and hopefully you can already see the results! (If not then you havent been listening to us enough!)

Assistant Station Manager - Peter BaileyAssistant SM

The Assistant Station Manager is basically there to support the Station Manager and perform their duties if the need should arise. They are also tasked with overseeing the finances of the station (Accountancy degree and stingy nature not essential although preferred). This post has been taken on by a newcomer this year, first year Peter Bailey is learning the GU2 trade, has taken up his own show and is and thoroughly enjoying it so far!

Head of AdminHead of Admin - Pamela Muggleton

Our Head of Admin fulfills the role of secretary for the station and performs Minute-taking and distribution from our meetings. They also maintain the mailing lists to make sure all you lucky members are well informed on GU2 happenings. They are responsible for maintaining reasonable cleanliness in the GU2 office, making the tea, and bringing in well timed plates of sandwiches to presenters ... (wishful thinking on those last 2 perhaps).

Programme Controller - Rumbi KambaramiHead of Programme Control

Programme Control is vital to the smooth running of the station. This department is responsible for allocating time slots to presenters to make sure GU2 fufills its quota of at least 14 hours broadcast a day, although due to superb performance from presenters and the department this year that is rarely a problem. They are also responsible for maintaining the presenters manual and any training for noobs wanting to become the next Decap-like sensation. This year Rumbi has been a firm and frankly superb controller, with her time spent mostly training, organising our new schedule of genre-lised nights, and putting management firmly in their place when needed.

Head of MusicHead of Music - Phill Nathan

THe Head of Music and their Music team are ultimately responsible for the quality and selection of tracks played on GU2 during playlist shows and non-stop music. They are also responsible for ensuring nothing unsuitable or offensive is played on air in the form of music. The debate still rages as to whether Nizlopi or Rihanna's "Umbrella" come under this category. Please direct all complaints to Phill Nathan, our resident GU2 veteran and is the ultimate Hammond tribute act.

Technical Manager - Mark BarnesTechnical Manager

Our Technical Manager is responsible for overseeing all technical and maintenance projects within the studio and on Outside Broadcasts. In the same vane they are also responsible for upgrading and improving the systems used in the radio station. Also primarily responsible for ensuring our link to the lovely listener is maintained through our AM broadcast and Web streaming. This year we have been granted the services of the prodigal Mark Barnes (not even a hint of sarcasm- hes rather good). As we speak he is probably tinkering with something and doing things nobody else understands to make our lives easier in the studio!

Head of MarketingHead of Marketing - Lauren Stott

Head of Marketing at GU2 is responsible for designing and executing a marketing strategy for the station. This includes coordinating volunteers in advertising our various activities, events and shows. They are also responsible for the ordering and distribution of GU2 merchandise, including the rather swish new hoodies (buy one now)!. Lauren is a final year Marketing student and has been putting her skills to good use this year with creating some superb new posters and developing the GU2 high fashion clothing line for Spring.

Head of Sound Production - Darren HollettHead of Sound Production

The main domain of our Sound Production department is the creation and development of jingles and station idents played during shows. They are also pretty handy with editing interviews and recorded tracks and are happy to show any GU2 members the tricks of the trade. This year we have experienced drive-time presenter Darren as head of the department, supported by the infamous (and most would claim legendary) Decap.

Head of NewsHead of News - Ben Miller

Our Head of news is responsible for coordinating a team of reporters and news readers to ensure all the key news events are reported on GU2. They cover both National and University news to keep you, the avid GU2 listener, informed. With a lot happening in the News department this year Ben Miller has been the first head of News to coordinate a live news broadcast read by students from the University. Move over Trevor Mcdonald!

Head of Promotions - Tolami FranklinHead of Promotions

The Promotions department is key in helping the station serve you, the Surrey student. They are responsible for picking up prizes for us to give away, so dont say we never do anything for you! Tolami has taken up the role this year and thanks to her we have given away everything from Rubix Tickets to computer games. So dont miss out on some free stuff, tune in to GU2 and listen out for our next competition!

WebmasterWebmaster - Jonathan Pilborough

A crucial department for the Station, our Webmaster is ultimately responsible for the design and upkeep of our online content. They are tasked with monitoring usage of the website and also ensuring we stay on-air over the internet (with a little help from the technical department). This year Jonathan has worked round the clock to draft and refine our new website, as I am sure you will agree he has worked wonders!!
