Mother's Murder Conviction Overturned

February 08, 2010 Trackback News by Josie Standbrook

A mother from Guildford who was jailed for life for killing her toddler son had her murder conviction overturned on Tuesday. Three judges at the Appeal Court ruled there was no evidence to prove that Tara Haigh murdered three-year-old Billy at her Dairyman's Walk flat in Burpham in November 2005. The 25 year old had been given a life sentence following a trial at the Old Bailey in late 2008. Her murder conviction was replaced with one of manslaughter and the judges will decide on February 19th whether she should be freed from prison.
